Why Stalls Are Awesome

I love doing stalls! In fact my first year or so in business they were really the only way I made any money at all if I am honest. Sure I would get the odd order from a friend who had seen something she liked on my Facebook page, but I wasn't paying the bills with the odd order for bath bombs! I was terrified about doing stalls, what if people actually spoke to me? What on earth would I say? I was so terrified so I did what I do best when I am trying to cover for my nerves, I overprepared. I swear, although I love to procrastinate and leave everything to the last minute, I cram in so much prep that I think thats the only way I got through university! I read lots of other people's experiences and looked at how they laid out their stalls. I also found a neat idea for getting people's details through doing a prize draw (this was before GDPR) and decided I would do that too. I bought one of those cardboard wedding post boxes, covered it in wrapping paper and made up a poste...

Warm Vs Cold Market

So by now you have been in business for a while and you have started building your list of people you know - you probably think you have finished it. Pro tip - you haven't, not by a long shot but thats another post. There are many ways to build your list so we will cover that in a separate post. Your list will be divided into two sections, or at least it should be. These are warm market and cold market, now people will argue that there is some grey area between the two and they would be right but it is best to keep things simple where you can. Put simply your warm market is people you already know and your cold market is people you don't. So all your friends and family and even your Facebook friends to some extent are your warm market, all the people you haven't met yet are cold. This could be people you meet at a stall or people who respond to a Facebook post that you didn't have a previous connection with before then. So how do you approach each? Well when it ...

Product Vs Opportunity

So now you are up and running a little, you have spoken to some friends about your new business and hopefully a few of them have tried your products, maybe even bought something. What now? This is the point at which many people give up because they think they have exhausted all their opportunities, spoken to everyone they know and got what they are going to get. They are so unbelievably wrong! Don't give up, don't stop here. Follow this blog for a little longer (I am going to be doing posts every day for the next few days on the next steps, its too much for one post) and I promise you will get some ideas on where to go from here. Before we get into the next steps, there is something you need to get your head around and that is whether to lead with the product or lead with the opportunity. If you aren't sure what I am talking about, let me explain: Network Marketing is essentially two different things - selling products and recruiting people for your team or 'selling...

How to actually get started

OK you have done your research and you have chosen the opportunity that you feel is the best fit for you; you've purchased your starter kit and are ready to go. So just how do you go about getting started? Every company I have ever been with says to start by writing a list of basically everyone you have ever met as a first step. Now I'm not going to say that having what most in the industry call a Who Do You Know List (WDKNL) is a bad thing, there is a reason all the companies recommend it after all. I'm just saying that's not where I would start. You are naturally excited about your new opportunity and you want to tell everyone you have ever met all about it. I strongly urge you not to do that at this stage, at least not until you know what you are talking about. The people on your list, the people you already know are what's known as your 'warm market' these are people you probably don't want to annoy too much because they are a part of your life a...

Sometimes an opportunity is too good to pass up

OK now most experts in Network Marketing will tell you that you should try to concentrate on one business and I get it I really do. If you are splitting your time and effort between two companies then each is only getting half of your attention at best. The problem is that sometimes an opportunity really is too good to pass up. I was recently offered the chance to join a company that was, at the time, in pre-launch here in the UK. Now at first I wasn't interested, but I really wanted to try the products. The company sells haircare products and, quite frankly, I have terrible hair that I really wish I could do something about. The products and the results I had seen online looked fantastic, but would they work for me? These are not cheap products after all. So I arranged to have some samples sent over from Canada. OMG the products were amazing and my Canadian friend had rather cleverly added me to a group on social media for the companies UK prospects. I posted some pictures on ...

My 'why'

It's a term you will hear constantly in Network Marketing, people will say 'you need to know your why' and when you are new you probably don't have a clue what they are talking about! In a nutshell your why is just that - it's the reason you joined the business you are in in the first place. It sounds pretty simple, you joined because you wanted more money. There is no real point in pretending this is not the case, we all became Network Marketers because we wanted to bring in more money than we currently do. Your 'why' is deeper than that, and its a bit hard to explain too but I will try. Your 'why' is the reason you chose Network Marketing instead of picking up more hours in your current job - it's often flexibility, but again its deeper still. Do you want to be at home for your kids? That's a good 'why' and a very common one - great now why does that matter to you? I know that sounds like a ridiculous question but that's how...

Why I love my company

What kind of Network Marketing blog would this be if I didn't tell you about the company I am with? I am with a reasonably new company called Votre Belle Maison, although we are still pretty new we have just gone worldwide! We sell an eclectic mix of things so there is something for everyone, bath products, hand bags, kids toys, skin care, you name it we probably have it! However that's not the reason I love it. I love it because I know I make a difference. You see VBM was set up by a lovely lady named Sue who, after a period of ill health, decided to help a few people feel better by sending out what she called 'Little Boxes of Love'. She intended to send five boxes but was inundated with nominations for these boxes and to cut the long story short A Little Box of Love was born. A Little Box of Love is where you can go to the website www.alittleboxoflove.co.uk and nominate anyone you think deserves a little box or would be cheered up by a box or for any reason you ...
